Fixing the Style of Your Guide: Group Assignments/ Guide Types

Major LibGuide Issue Troublemaker: Incorrect Group Assignment

  • Check the Group Assignment

    • It may default to another Group when you are creating a new guide

  • Doublecheck and Always Choose "LibGuides (Public)"

    • With the use of this Group

      • Aligns your guide with the styling (CSS) associated with our public-facing Libguides

      • Creates consistency within the platform of our guide's font, headings, layout, etc.

      • Ensures accessibility options are engaged with the style guide

  • For findability, this places your guide on the publicly browsable & searchable "LibGuides" page.

  • Safeguards' against past issues that have been resolved in this iteration

    • In other Group assignments, there may be issues that cause it to act "wonky"

    • If your guide is acting buggy, doublecheck the Group

Keep it succinct, yet meaningful, to make your guides easy to scan and find.

Friendly URL: REQUIRED for Usability

  • Choose a friendly URL for user-friendly sharing
  • Friendly URLs make it easier to share & remember guide links

The friendly URL may only contain alphanumeric characters, dashes, forward-slashes, and underscores. While uppercase letters are supported, we recommend using lowercase letters to keep things simple.
