ETD OR OPEN ACCESS = FULLTEXT

ETD means electronic theses and dissertations. These resources are published in an electronic format. Most ETDs are available in full-text pdf format but, occasionally, there are embargos or other circumstances that prevent access.

Open Access means available in full-text (usually pdf) to anyone with an internet connection.

Can't get online full-text access to a dissertation or thesis? You may be able to borrow the print version through ILLiad, interlibrary loan. Please see a librarian for assistance.

This is the most comprehensive location of theses and dissertations because both print and online publications are included here.

If you know the author or title of a specific thesis or dissertation, type it in the basic search box. Narrow your search results by searching for Author or Title instead of Anywhere.

If you are looking for all FIU dissertations or those on a specific topic or from a specific discipline, do an Advanced Search. In one search box, enter the words: thesis or dissertation*; in the next box, enter in quotes: "florida international university"; if you want to limit this to a specific topic or department, type the term in the third search box.

Your results will include location information including a link to the online version, when available.

No single source has a record of all electronic dissertations and theses, so be sure to search many of these sites to get a broad look at the literature.

Dissertation Abstracts - With Fulltext (PQDT : ProQuest Dissertations & Theses) This link opens in a new window
The most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses, it houses over 3 million searchable citations to dissertations and theses from around the world, from 1861 to the present day. Includes 1.2 million full-text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format. The database offers full-text for most of the dissertations added since 1997, and strong retrospective full-text coverage for older graduate works.

NDLTD (Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations)
An international collaborative resource, the NDLTD Union Catalog contains more than one million records of electronic theses and dissertations. Use BASE, the VTLS Visualizer or any of the geographically specific search engines noted lower on their webpage.

Indexes doctoral dissertations and masters' theses in all areas of academic research includes international coverage.

OATD (Open Access Theses and Dissertations)
Aims to be the best possible resource for finding open access graduate theses and dissertations published around the world with metadata from over 800 colleges, universities, and research institutions. Currently, indexes over 1 million theses and dissertations.
DART-Europe E-theses Portal
This is a discovery service for open access research theses awarded by European universities.
Theses Canada
A union catalog of Canadian theses and dissertations, in both electronic and analog formats, is available through the search interface on this portal.
Center for Research Libraries
There are currently more than 90 countries and over 1200 institutions represented. CRL has catalog records for over 800,000 foreign doctoral dissertations.
