What Is A Full Text Search?

This is a search of a word or term that occurs within the text of items across the entire HathiTrust repository. Also known as large scale search.

What Is A Catalog Search?

This is a search across the bibliographic data (title, author, subject, ISBN, publisher, and year of publication) associated with the items within the HathiTrust repository.

Logging In

To log into HathiTrust:

Go to the HathiTrust home page: https://www.hathitrust.org

Click the "Log In" button

Search for & select "Florida International University" from the dropdown list of partner institutions

Click "Continue"

You will be taken to FIU’s Authentication page to log in with your username and password

You will be taken back to the search screen to start your research

HathiTrust Digital Library is a digital preservation repository and access platform, providing long-term preservation and access to digitized content from a variety of sources, including Google, the Internet Archive, Microsoft, and in-house member institution initiatives. Users have full-text access and downloading capabilities for those items in the public domain. This includes US federal government documents, works published before 1923, and works still protected by copyright, but made available to HathiTrust with the permission of the copyright holder.
