We have access to nearly 4 Million additional e-books at no cost for the remainder of the semester. Many publishers are opening up access to additional journal content and teaching materials. We will continue to add additional resources so check back often.

eBooks

• Cambridge Core Collection

  The home of academic content from Cambridge University Press, this collection provides access to thousands of e-textbooks from one of the most well-respected academic publishers in the field. E-books in the collection include a multidisciplinary selection of textbooks.

• EBSCO eBooks Academic Collection

  A multi-disciplinary collection of high-quality academic books useful for conducting research on a wide array of topics. Content has been expanded by EBSCO and its partners during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing even more access to materials that will enable researchers to find high-quality information on their chosen topics.

• HathiTrust Digital Library

  HathiTrust Digital Library is a digital preservation repository and access platform, providing long-term preservation and access to digitized content from a variety of sources, including Google, the Internet Archive, Microsoft, and in-house member institution initiatives. Items in the public domain are freely available to all users; items own by member libraries are also available in digital format, according to copyright law. To help students and scholars during this difficult time, HathiTrust is now offering online access to items available in the libraries' print collections. Anything marked Temporary Access can be checked out for 60 minutes, with the ability to renew the item for another 60-minute session, while Full Access items can be used for as long as necessary. To access any of these items, click on the link to log-in with your FIU credentials.

• The Public Books Database

  In response to the COVID-19 crisis and the disruptions facing academics as they make the move to online teaching and research, many scholarly presses have made hundreds of titles available online. The Public Books Database provides a catalog of these resources in a single location and highlights titles of particular interest to the academic community. The Public Books Database will be updated regularly as additional materials are added.

• University of Michigan Press eBooks

  In order to support students and educators during the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Michigan Press has made all of the content available in its e-book collection (UMP EBC) available to academic libraries. Access restrictions will be removed for all 1,150+ titles in this collection until the end of June 2020. Strengths of this collection include political science and public (including health) policy, performing arts, classical and medieval studies, American studies, and Area studies (especially East Asian, African, and German studies).

eJournals

• Annual Reviews Complete A-Z List

  Offers comprehensive, timely collections of critical reviews written by leading scientists. Annual Reviews volumes are published each year for 40 focused disciplines within the Biomedical, Life, Physical, and Social Sciences including Economics. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic Annual Reviews has made its entire journal collection available to all users without access control through at least April 30, 2020.

• Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) Trial

  Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), initiated in 1999 by Tsinghua University and Tsinghua Tongfang Co., Ltd., is both the largest institutional repository in China and a near-monopoly provider of for-pay academic databases with a higher profit margin than Elsevier or Wiley, among other services. With promotion and support from the government, CNKI keeps developing its track towards open access. CNKI offers free access to millions of documents ranging from dissertations and academic articles to popular and party journals. The COAA, Chinese Open Access Aggregator, launched in 2019, makes available more than 10,000 open access journals, although foreign scholars may find it difficult to benefit from this due to the language. CNKI has played an important role in making works on COVID-19 freely available, as well as in expanding access to subscribers at home during lock-down.

• eDesiderata

  Given the increased value of electronic access to resources during the COVID-19 pandemic, CRL is negotiating special access to key primary source collections from commercial partners on behalf of CRL member institutions. These resources will be available to all CRL institutions through the end of the academic year. • JSTOR

  Electronic full text of back files of 644+ scholarly journals. Recent years are not available; FIU has access to following collections: Arts & Sciences Collections I - XV, and Complement, Ecology and Botany Collection I & II, Life Sciences, Business IV, and the Jewish Studies Collection. During the COVID-19 pandemic, JSTOR is assisting students and researchers by making expanded content available. This expanded content includes no-cost access to unlicensed collections, and to 35,000 (and counting) books and other e-resources as JSTOR partners continue to join in the effort.

• Project MUSE

  Electronic full text of 100+ scholarly journals published by several University presses; FIU subscribes to Project Muse Standard and Premium Collections. To assist students and faculty members during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of Project MUSE's publishing partners are making scholarly content freely available. Free content will display a "free" icon that is different from the "OA" icon used to identify Open Access items. This free content comes from a variety of partners known for their high quality publications in the humanities and social sciences, and is meant to help lessen the impact of the move to online learning in the current climate of social distancing.

• SimplyAnalytics An Internet-based mapping application that enables users to develop interactive thematic maps and reports using thousands of demographic, business, and marketing data variables;

  NOTE: Students & Faculty are not required to log-in with a user name and password, however, work will not be saved if using a temporary workspace. Be advised that this product is licensed for 2 concurrent users.

• World Scientific

  In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Florida International University’s journal access has been upgraded to include all World Scientific journal content published from 2001. This takes effect from now, until June 30, 2020.
