Cool Reading for a Hot Summer

Reader's Guide to "Cool" Fiction at the FIU Libraries!

Finding FROSTY FICTION in the FIU Libraries

There is no one way to find fiction that deals with cold subjects or settings; however, you can:

  1. Go to library.fiu.edu
  2. Click on the "Catalog" tab
  3. Type in keywords such as:

"Glaciers and Fiction" or "Ice and Fiction" in the Catalog search box.

Some of the more recently published books (published after 1990) will be listed under helpful subject headings such as:

Winter--Fiction

Snow--Fiction

Glacial Epoch--Fiction

Arctic Regions--Fiction

Antarctica--Fiction

Greenland--Fiction

Alaska--Fiction

Siberia (Russia)--Fiction

But you will get broader results by NOT limiting yourself to subject headings and letting the book title or description (if there is one) be your guide.

(NOTE: Books published before 1990 may not be listed under descriptive or geographic subject headings, only the author and title.)
