MAKING YOUr LIBRARY VISIT WORTHWHILE

Best Time of the Day to Find Study Space, Borrow a Laptop, Get a Group Study Room

  • Early mornings are the best and usually not too busy until around 9:00 a.m.
  • Second best times are weekday evenings after 8:00 p.m.
  • Busiest times are weekdays between Noon and 6:00 p.m.
  • Note:  During midterm and final exams expect the library to be busy throughout the day

  • Saturday mornings before 12:00 Noon -- you may feel as if you have the library to yourself

Busiest Day of the Week

  • Sunday, all day -- arrive early to claim study space and borrow a laptop

Quiet Studying or Group Meetings

  • Quiet Study Floors -- Green Library: 3, 5, 6, 7; Hubert Library: 2, 3
  • Talking is allowed -- Green Library, 2; Hubert Library 1
  • Note:  To be sure you are in a Quiet Study area, look for signs indicating this

Electrical Outlets

  • How many devices do you have?  Most people have 2 or 3 -- there are not enough electrical outlets in the building to go around
  • TIP -- buy a surge protector (a multi-plug, fire safe extension cord) and keep it with you, or borrow one at the Circulation Desk

Coffee and Food

  • Green Library has a Starbucks on the 1st Floor, and throughout the MMC campus there are multiple food outlets
  • Hubert Library has coffee / beverage / food vending machines on the 1st Floor; the Wolfe Student Center has food outlets, but during weekday evenings and weekends food choices are very limited
