If you are a current student interested in being a part of the FIU libraries e-Resources internship program see the details below:

Internship Description

FIU Libraries is recruiting interns to assist in managing its online journals, eBooks, streaming media, and specialized databases (collectively known as electronic resources).  These internships will provide students with practical knowledge of electronic resource licensing and acquisition, and management of subscriptions using current and emergent technologies.

Internships are fully customizable based on the students’ interests and library needs.  They can be virtual and no site visits are required.

Three tracks are offered:

  1. Licensing and acquisitions:  Students gain practical knowledge of the legal, ethical, financial, and institutional requirements of library subscription licenses, as well as experience with contract negotiation.  Students will also benefit from experience using a contract management system, managing a multimillion-dollar subscription budget, and creating budget reports and projections using the Ex Libris Alma Analytics data system.
  2. Electronic Resources Management:  Students will gain experience managing electronic resources using the Ex Libris Alma electronic resource management system (ERMS), which supports the Primo VE knowledgebase and central index for discovery.  Interns will gain experience in activating and updating resources in the library’s online catalog and discovery system, troubleshooting access problems, tracking usage data, and assisting students and faculty with electronic resource access and use.
  3. Independent Student Concentration:  Students may customize their intern experience to include a variety of aspects of electronic resource management, acquisition, collection development, and discovery.  This internship will result in a special project.

All current students may apply.  We especially encourage students from underrepresented and historically marginalized racial, social, and/or class groups to apply.
