Alumni, Visitor, and Retiree Library Services & Access

This page provides information and policies for FIU Visitor, Alumni, and Retired Faculty & Staff.

Alumni: Using the Library

services - when visiting one of the FIU Libraries, alumni may use the following:

  • Reference and research assistance at the Information & Research Desk
  • Borrowing books (use your FIU ID card).
  • Renew checked out items at the Circulation Desk.
  • Audio-Visual materials are available for check out, with some restrictions.
  • Use of Course Reserves materials, including electronic devices and group study rooms, is limited to currently enrolled students.

equipment - When visiting one of the FIU Libraries, alumni may use the following:

  • Public access computers
  • Use of library databases and e-book services (on site only).
  • Full use of photocopiers.
  • Full use of networked printers for library computers.

  • Your FIU ID Card is your permanent library card. Please retain your FIU ID Card after graduation for use as an FIU Alumni.
  • Alumni are subject to overdue fines and lost materials charges.
  • There is no limit to the number of checkouts you may have at any time.
  • The Alumni loan period is 30 days regardless of previous status. Renewals of 30 days are allowed unless there is a recall or hold request for the item.
