Diaz-Ayala Cuban & Latin American Popular Music Collection, The This link opens in a new window
FIU's Green Library hosts the world's best Cuban music collection. The entire collection has approximately 150,000 items that span the history of popular Cuban and other Latin Music. Valued at over one million dollars, the collection features 45,000 LPS; 15,000 78 rpms; 4,500 cassettes containing radio interviews with composers, radio programs, music, and other materials; 5,000 pieces of sheet music; 3,000 books; and thousands of CDs, photographs, videocassettes and paper files.
Encyclopedic Discography of Cuban Music, 1925-1960: Volume 2
This work is a continuation of Cuba Canta y Baila: Discografa de la Msica Cubana, Vol. I, 1898-1925 (Cuba Sings and Dances: A Discography of Cuban Music, Vol. I, 1898-1925). This volume, published in 1994, and its selected chronology reflected a period from the beginning of acoustical commercial recordings, that is, without any kind of "electrical" intervention, to the last recordings done under this system in the fall of 1925, when electrical recordings began.

CIRCULATION

The following individuals may borrow FIU Audiovisual Library resources: faculty, adjuncts, staff, undergraduate, graduate, PhD students, alumni, library associates, SEFLIN members, other SUS. A valid FIU library card/ID is required for all transactions. The loan period and quantity varies per material and patron category.

INTERCAMPUS LOAN

Monday through Friday an intercampus shuttle transfers AV materials between campus for in-house, classroom, or personal checkout.

AUDIOVISUAL RESERVES

Faculty may place any av material on reserve for their students. A form declaring compliance with copyright law must be signed to place faculty's personal materials on reserve.

5th FLOOR COMPUTER CENTER

The computer center is for use by the university community.

Loan Periods and Library Fines
Check the charts to see the various check-out times based on material type and patron classification, and the list of possible fines and overdue charges based on item type.
Audio/Visual Material for Classroom Use Request Form
Course Reserves @ FIU Libraries: Request items to be put on reserve for your class.
Books, eBooks, streaming videos, and other media can be held for limited check out times, and articles can be put on e-reserve for 24/7 access for your students.
Faculty Library Materials Request Form
