Mission

The Sound & Image Collections consist of audiovisual resources intended to support the teaching needs of the faculty; as well as supplementing the academic research needs of students while providing cultural awareness and enrichment to all.

AVAILABLE MATERIALS

The following types of nonprint/AV materials are available in both Libraries:

  • (VHS) video tapes
  • DVDs
  • 12 in. laser discs
  • CD-ROMs

These additional nonprint/AV materials are housed at Green Library:

  • Compact discs
  • LP records
  • Art slides / digital images
  • Books-on-tape

CIRCULATION

The following individuals may borrow FIU Audiovisual Library resources: faculty, adjuncts, staff, undergraduate, graduate, PhD students, alumni, library associates, SEFLIN members, other SUS. A valid FIU library card/ID is required for all transactions. The loan period and quantity varies per material and patron category. 

INTERCAMPUS LOAN

Monday through Friday an intercampus shuttle transfers AV materials between campus for in-house, classroom, or personal checkout.

AUDIOVISUAL RESERVES

Faculty may place any av material on reserve for their students. A form declaring compliance with copyright law must be signed to place faculty's personal materials on reserve.

5th FLOOR COMPUTER CENTER

The computer center is for use by the university community.
