My name is Christopher Jimenez, Web Services Librarian and Liaison to the History Department. Welcome to the Native Americans in the American Experience LibGuide (Originally created for Dr. Gibbs' Fall 2017 HIS 4935 class).

This guide provides an introduction to library research services and specific history resources. These resources have been curated with Native Americans in the American Experience in mind. Annotation is provided to enlighten the user about each item. Below is a general description of the layout of this guide.

  • Sources - How to differentiate between Scholarly & Popular articles. How to determine if material qualifies as a primary or secondary source.
  • Citation - How to organize your research to effectively write and cite a paper or project.
  • Brainstorm - How to start conducting research.
  • Reference - Reference materials that will form the base of a research project.
  • Articles - How to locate scholarly articles that will further your research (Includes Newspaper sources!).
  • Media - Where to look for images, audio, and video in the library.
  • Free Resources - A few great places to look for free resources outside the FIU Libraries.
  • Help - Where to go if you need a little more help.
