Instruction Labs Use Policy

FIU Libraries - Instruction Labs

(GL 523, GL 280, and HL 150)

The purpose of the instructional labs is for the provision of library instruction.

  1. The following faculty may book rooms GL 523, GL 280 for library instructional purposes:
    • Associate Dean for Public Services
    • Head, Information & Research Services
    • Bibliographic Instruction Coordinator
    • Green Library Instruction librarians
    • Green Library Subject liaisons
  2. The following faculty may book room HL 150 for library instructional purposes:
    • Associate Dean for Public Services
    • Head, Information & Research Services
    • Bibliographic Instruction Coordinator
    • Hubert Library Instruction librarians
    • Hubert Library Subject liaisons
  3. When not in use for instructional purposes, instructional labs may, on occasion, be available for FIU community use. Requests from members of the FIU community should be directed to the Department Head, Information & Research Services or the Instruction Coordinator at either Green (GL 523 or GL 280) or Hubert Library (HL 150). Priority is given to library instruction sessions, and approval of FIU community requests will be determined on a case-by-case basis. FIU Community requests are considered on the Monday (BBC) and the Thursday (MMC) prior to the week needed. Successful community reservations may be cancelled up to 48 hours before the scheduled event if the instructional lab is needed for a library instruction session.
  4. A library faculty member or library/FIU staff member must be present at all times when the room is in use.
  5. Use of computers must conform to Library and University technology policies:

  6. Please note that food and drinks are not allowed in the room.
