Table interpretation:

The essence of each 2001 Student User Survey question is stated in the top row of each table.  “Valid” refers to recognized responses.  Those responses are listed just to the left of the valid cell.  “Missing” refers to unrecognizable responses to the question asked or those responses not chosen from the preformatted available responses.  “Total” is the summed amount of submitted responses, either valid or overall responses.  “Frequency” is the count of responses and “Percent” is that count divided by the overall total.  “Valid Percent” is the recognized count of responses (which excludes those that are “missing”) divided by the total count of recognized responses.  “Cumulative Percent” is the summed amount of each recognized response previously listed in the table.

 

Questions #4 and #23 were open-ended questions: respondents could not choose “Valid” responses to these questions.  Instead, the actual responses to these open-ended questions were organized, based on the similarity of submitted comments, and placed into the categories presented.  The actual comments are listed in the appendix of this report along with notes on how they were categories.

 

Each bar chart displays the “Valid Percent” values listed in the preceding table, the 2001 Student User Survey question, the question number, and the recognized responses to that question.  Charts concerning questions #4 and #23 do not list the recognized responses, but instead, a number corresponding to the response category.  These numbers and the response category are listed in the table above each chart.
