All library services at Florida International University are available to the distance education community. The distance education community includes anyone involved in off-campus courses, WebCT classes, and/or who attend the FIU Centers (e.g., Downtown and Pembroke Pines). We will make every effort to meet the needs of our students and faculty regardless of where they are.
Getting Started
Click Getting Started to obtain a Library Number. You will need a Library Number to access the resources available through FIU Libraries.
Connect from Home - Off-Campus Access
Click Connect from Home each time you want to access the Library resources. Type in your 14 digit Library Number to start your Research!
Finding E-Resources
Articles, E-Books, Dissertations, Course Reserves and More are accessible from your desktop!
Article & Book Access and Delivery
There are a number of books online and many databases provide full-text articles. When an article is not in full-text, use Interlibrary Loan for desktop delivery. To set-up your Interlibrary Loan Account, click Establish an Illiad Account to start. If you find a book that is not in full-text, request it or visit one of our partner libraries.
Course Reserves
Course Reserves are electronic or print materials placed on reserve by a professor for a particular course. Search Course Reserves using your Library Number and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (or last 4 digits of your Panther ID). Course Reserves Services explains how to place an item on Course Reserves.
Borrowing Materials
Renew Materials Online
- Click Renew Materials Online
- Click Library Catalog
- Sign-in (type in your Library Number and the last 4 digits of your social security or Panther ID).
- Click Go.
- Click Your Account.
- Click Loans.
- Click Renew All.
- Say Goodbye to Overdue Fines!
