Purpose

Course Reserves and Electronic Reserves keep library or faculty owned materials in a separate collection for use by students in a specific class. Books are located at the Circulation Desk. Photocopies of articles and other materials are available online in PDF format (Electronic Reserves) by searching the FIU Course Reserves database.

Circulation of Reserve Materials

Materials on Course Reserves are held at the Circulation Desk for the duration of the semester, and must be renewed for continued use during the next semester. Materials must be placed on Reserve in accordance with the Copyright Law. Loan periods are set by the faculty member at either 2 hours, 24 hours, or 3 days. The faculty member also designates whether or not the material may leave the Library.

Materials Eligible for Reserve include:

  • books
  • photocopied articles or other works
  • audiovisual materials (must be placed into the Audiovisual Reserve Collection)
  • course syllabi
  • class lecture notes

Go to the Course Reserves Request Form.

Materials Ineligible for Reserve
