The Acquisitions Department refers potential donors to the appropriate department heads for gifts of the following fields or types:
- Latin America and Caribbean
- recordings
- videos
- musical scores
- art books, catalogs, slides
- Florida history
- Special Collections
- Government Documents
The Acquisitions Department is cautious about accepting gifts for the general collections and discusses the particulars of intended gifts with donors.
