There are numerous options from which you can choose to provide library instruction and build information literacy skills for your students. For example: You can arrange a class which will focus on instructing your students to effectively do research for a specific assignment; or your students can signup for open workshops; or do a tutorial independently from your class session.
Schedule your class for these sessions:
These sessions are geared toward your needs and cover a variety of skill levels and, in most cases, are geared toward helping students to develop skills which will assist them in fulfilling a research assignment. These sessions cover appropriate information resources including tradition print sources, audiovisual and web resources. Click the Intermediate and Advanced Research to view a description of classes available. To arrange a class, see contact information below.
As part of the Libraries' Information Literacy Program, these sessions are provided for all freshman to develop skills to effectively locate and evaluate information. Click Information Literacy Program to view outcomes for the ENC 1101 and 1102 classes. To arrange a class, see contact information below.
Internet by Design
Subject specific, custom designed workshops for faculty, graduate students and administrative staff. Individuals may schedule a group of five or more. To arrange a class, see contact information below.
Student self-help options:
Web tutorials are available for self-paced instruction at the beginning and intermediate levels. Select the appropriate tutorials based on their descriptions. Transfer students, upper-division undergraduates and graduate students may want to complete these tutorials prior to attending library sessions scheduled by their course instructors.
