Library Faculty Assembly Emergency Meeting

Friday, August 19, 2005

Special meeting called to discuss drafting the Library’s Annual Work Plan.

 

Meeting called to order 2:07 p.m.

 

 

The Assembly members reviewed Work Plans for Biscayne Bay and Green Libraries.  A question was raised as to whether the plans should remain separate, and how much overlap there is between the two.  The Assembly recommended combining the two documents.  The Associate Directors will work together to this end.

 

Several other suggestions were made, such as placing departmental items within a specific goal together, and using the word “Rationale” rather than “Value” for the reasoning within a goal. Comments were made that many of the items had goals and action, but no objectives, and many of the action items may be too specific for the plan.

 

A recommendation was made that timelines be given for multi-year projects, with the specific accomplishments for that year recorded in the Work Plan.

 

Several people suggested that the Work Plan should map back to the strategic plan, rather than trying to make the Work Plan mirror the strategic plan.

 

The Assembly recognized the need to tailor the Work Plan to its main audience – the University Administration.

 

Sherry Carrillo, Toni Downs, and Tony Schwartz will work on a second draft, to be presented to the assembly on August 25.
