Resource Development Mission Statement

The mission of the Resource Development Department is to support the University’s mission of excellent teaching and research by building and preserving collections, in all formats, to meet the information needs of the university’s academic programs, research centers, and community. The department acquires/leases, receives, processes and pays for library materials in a timely and fiscally responsible manner. 

About Resource Development

Resource Development is made up of Acquisitions, Serials, and E-Resources units. All library materials are ordered, received, activated, and made ready (in conjunction with the Cataloging Department) for public use in this part of the library.

The Acquisitions Unit  orders and receives books (monographs), videos, CDs, and all non-electronic items while the Serials and E-Resources Unit orders and receives all journals, newspapers, and other continuing resources as well as all electronic journals, e-books, databases, and journal packages.

Requests for books or for audio-visual materials may be made by faculty using the OLAS system . Requests for journals or for databases may be made by consulting with the Library Liaison for a given subject area.
